If you've never heard of this kind of coaching before, you're not alone.
A Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach (aka Health Coach) is the personal health advocate you never knew you needed.
In the US, our healthcare system is focused on disease management, not disease prevention. It is designed to treat illnesses rather than prevent them in the first place. And when you are experiencing a health concern or can't figure out how to get back on the right track, it can be daunting and challenging to even know where to begin a journey to trying to feel better.
Enter me, your coach!
Similar to life, career, and fitness coaches, a health coach is your guide on the path to making positive change. As your health coach, I focus on wellness using a holistic approach, exploring career, spirituality, and relationships (among other things) in addition to food and nutrition. I am here to help you reach your goals and fullest potential by increasing self-awareness, identifying patterns that could be contributing to health issues, and above all else, offering support along the way. We will also work on and ways to adjust your lifestyle to meet the goals you're looking to achieve.
Why should someone seek out a health coach rather than just going to the doctor? The answer is simple - they shouldn't. Seeing a health coach is never a replacement for seeing a licensed medical professional if you need a diagnosis. A health coach cannot provide any diagnoses, and will not prescribe anything - specific diets, treatments, activities, or supplements (that's what medical professionals are for).
Rather, think of me as another member of your wellness team, who helps to fill in the gaps on your journey to achieving your wellness goals. Maybe you've been trying to figure out a good bedtime routine to work on getting more sleep, but you love staying up late because it's the time of day when you feel most creative. Or maybe your odd work schedule is preventing you from cooking and creating healthy meals consistently during the week. As your coach, I will work with you to explore the motivations behind your health goals, acknowledge them, and create a unique, individually-tailored plan to make lasting change.
I understand that no two individuals are the same, and that something that makes one person feel great may be toxic to another. I approach every person as a unique bio-individual, with needs that are different than any other being on earth. I am here to guide you in finding what works for you, what makes you feel good and vital, and how to incorporate those things into your life sustainably.
Health and wellness coaching is a quickly evolving and emerging field, so if you've never heard of it, you're certainly not alone. Many may feel that they don't need this type of support. But if you are looking to make positive changes in your life and want the non-judgmental guidance that friends and family just can't provide (I know, they mean well!), I can help bridge gaps and provide unconditional support. I will encourage you to find the awareness that you really are the expert on what's best for yourself, and support you on the journey to implement whatever you discover that makes you feel your best.
